How do i stop my itunes ipod shuffle playlist from changing.?

On itunes i have the playlist for my ipod shuffle set out in the way i want it (by clicking on the first column which shows the numbers) so that number 1 is at the top (first) and number 86 is at the bottom (last) and i can change the order. But everytime i reconnect my ipod to the computer, the playlist changes to alphabetical order instead of the way i have put it, is there a way to stop this? i know its a shuffle but sometimes i like to have the songs in order :-D
