How do you restore your ipod when it is not recognized in itunes as a device?

i read how to restore my ipod on apple, but my ipod is not recognized in itunes!!...and are the songs still going to be in my library?

Answers:

You cannot restore your iPod without iTunes

If nothing happens when iPod is connected to your computer, try the following steps. Hope it works.

1.Download and install iTunes 7 or later

2.Connect to a different USB port on your computer if nothing happens. Remember to use a USB 2.0 port to connect your iPod because USB 1.1 is slower than USB 2.0 . You can purchase a USB 2.0 card for Windows PC that doesn’t have a USB 2.0 port. For more information, go to.

3.Charge the battery by connecting your iPod to a high-power USB 2.0 or FireWire port on your computer. Do not connect your iPod to the USB port on your keyboard as this will not charge the battery.

4.Reset your iPod by holding the ‘Menu’ and ‘Select’ button for six seconds until the Apple logo appears if the above doesn’t work.

5.Restart your computer if resetting your iPod does not work.

6.And finally, restore iPod using iTunes 7 or later if all of the above does not work.

The songs won%26#39;t be deleted from the iTunes library when you restore the ipod. If you choose to restore, all data is erased from your iPod, including songs, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data.
