How do you put dvds onto your ipod?

My mum got a Apple Ipod (the FAT one!) for her birthday! The only thing is, is that we dont no how to put our OWN dvds onto her Apple Ipod (the FAT one!!) !!

Please help! she got it early, and its her birthday today! and we are going over to my nans today and i really want to put one on for her so she can watch it on the way!!
